Ja heti ajattelin että "voi eiiiiii".. Olisko ne Torin itse kirjoittamia biisejä vai covereita kaikki?? Toki kyllä sitä mielummin kuuntelis kun jonkun muun esittämänä..

Mieleeni tuli ensin, voisiko kyseessä olla joku muu projekti, joka vain on sekoitettu joululevyyn julkaisuajankohdan vuoksi. Mutta ainakin tämä artikkeli pitää tietoa oikeana: http://consequenceofsound.net/2009/07/2 ... christmas/

LE: Are we getting a little holiday gift from you this season? Are you working on a Christmas album?

TA: Let’s say something is coming. I don’t know if I’d use the word “Christmas” because it’s me. It’s a strange time of year because, as we both know, for a long long time, the solstice has been celebrated in that time of year, and with the coming of the church, a lot of things like songs and celebrations got turned into something else. Sometimes we forget that that goes alongside of Christmas as well, and there’s some unbelievable music, I think, from the past that has had many different versions done of them. But I do say we could kind of look at it holistically over the past few thousand years and what that time of year meant, and then a little part of me started thinking about twisting…just in my way…some things that you all might know, and some things that you might not know, and present it in a very different kind of way. They’re very beautiful. I was starting to pull strings a couple weeks ago. But I’m not doing something obvious.

Woohoo... Torin tuntien noi biisit on todella upeita.. Kuten "Have yourself.." on mun mielestä todella surullinen.. synkkä.. upea versio. Mulla on Jouluna muutenkin aina tosi masis olo..heh.. sopii siihen hyvin..

Hmm.. tässä pääsee taas odottamaan uutta levyä jo heh.. no.. siis melkein uutta ainakin..

Undentedin mukaan levyn nimeksi tulee "Midwinter Graces" ja julkaisupäivä on nyt 10.11.

You’re planning to release an album of winter songs later this year, am I right?

Yes, that’s still on the agenda — we’re mixing it as we speak. It’s a mixture of variations on old melodies and ancient carols; but variations o those themes, not exactly as you’ll have heard them from the Methodist church. It’ll be slightly different, but you’ll recognise some of them. Then there are new ones. So it’s a merger of old and new, with full brass, harpsichord, timpani and concert bass drums. It’s the classical side of my musicianship being allowed to do her job.

Classical side? wau... odottelen tuota ihan innoissani ja jos mukana on myös uusia eli Torin kirjoittamia?? Vai mitä tuolla tarkoitetaan.. Upea nimikin on levyllä

En oikein pidä tuosta kuvasta. Torin kasvot näyttävät omituisilta, koko kuva on epäonnistuneesti photoshopattu eikä fontti toimi. Lisäksi kuvassa ei mikään viittaa siihen, että kyseessä olisi joululevy. Kuva näyttää enemmän new age hömpältä.

Joo Tori näyttää Tuhon Enkeliltä tai joltain.. hehe.. siis idea on musta upee.. mut Torin naama on joo oudon näköinen ja kaula on hävinnyt jonnekin. Semmoista imelää Joulu/talvi aiheista levynkantta en olis edes halunnu.. Katsoo nyt onko tuo se lopullinen kansikuva sitten.

After nearly two decades writing and recording some of her generation's most emotionally powerful music, Tori Amos will release her first seasonal album, Midwinter Graces, on November 10 via Universal Republic. A follow up to Tori's critically acclaimed studio album, Abnormally Attracted to Sin, Midwinter Graces will find Tori reworking and expanding on classic carols as well as developing some of her very own seasonal tracks.

Midwinter Graces is an album that has been in the making for the past 40 years. Raised in the Baltimore area under the watchful eye of her Methodist minister father, Tori grew up playing holiday carols at Sunday services and Christmas Day celebrations in her father's church. These were the songs that gave a young Tori her first taste of music, and now almost 40 years later Tori gets her own chance to reimagine the classics.

Hmm.. en kyllä tunne yhtään ton levyn biisejä.. siis jos ne on tosiaan vanhoja joululauluja? Vai onko Tori nyt tehnyt sitten kaikki uusia? en oikein ole selvillä tuosta.. mut jos noi on jo olemassa olevia joita Tori vaan on vähän muunnellut niin en ole kyl kuullut niistä yhtäkään.. hehe

As well as reworkings of well known seasonal songs like ‘Coventry Carol’, ‘Star of Wonder’ and ‘Jeanette, Isabella’, a number of Amos originals also feature on the album, including ‘Pink & Glitter’ and ‘Our New Year’.

Eli siis ainakin kaksi on Torin omia kappaleita. En itsekään tunne noita joululauluja niin hyvin, joten en tiedä mitkä kaikki niistä on vanhoja.

Vielä kauheampi

Toi miespuolinen enkeli on varmaankin levyn takakansi sitten.. Näyttää vähän siltä että kyseessä kuitenkin olisi lopullinen levynkansi..

Loistavaa, että Torilta tulee jotain uutta näin verrattain pian uuden levyn julkaisun jälkeen.

Kansikuva tosin on aikasten järkky. Mitä ihmettä, miksi siitä on tehty tuollainen? Mikä tuo juttu Torin kaulassa oikein on? Jos se olisi jätetty pois, olisi tulos jo silloin ollut paljon parempi. Mutta toivottavasti sisältö korvaa sitten kamalan kannen monin verroin
