Abnormally Attracted to Sin

Oma mielikuvani on, että tuo negatiivisuus on tullut enemmän esille kun aikaa on kulunut. ADP oli enemmän "shower" kuin "grower", ja ihmiset ovat kyllästyneet sen pinnallisuuteen. Itse en ole ihan samaa mieltä, levyssä on paljon hyvää ja vaikkei se mielestäni ihan paras olekaan, se on ainakin todella hyvä . Kiertueesta kaikki ovat yhtä mieltä että se oli loistava.

Pidän @forumzissa sen huumorintajusta ja kriittisyydestä. Joskus se kriittisyys saattaa tosin näyttäytyä vähän liiallisena negatiivisuutena. En oikein välitä sellaisista foorumeista, joissa ei ole lainkaan kriittisyyttä vaan kaikesta ollaan samaa mieltä ja kaikkia artistin tekemisiä ylistetään. (En ole viettänyt niin paljon aikaa esim. Afterglow'ssa, että tarkoittaisin tällä mitään olemassaolevaa Tori-foorumia, ihan yleisenä huomiona vaan.)

Levyn pituudesta vielä: 10-12 kappaleinen levy - jos se on täynnä hyvää materiaalia - tuntuu toisaalta lyhyeltä, mutta toisaalta siinä jää ainakin kaipaamaan enemmän sen sijaan että olisi liian täynnä. Noin 15-17 kappaleinen levy (se mikä nyt on tulossa ) kuulostaisi ideaaleimmalta, olettaen että se on täynnä loistavaa musiikkia. TBK:sta ja ADP:sta olisi editoimalla muutaman kappaleen saanut huomattavasti paremmat; BFP ja SW taas toimivat pitkinäkin, koska materiaali on niin hyvää. Kyse ei siis niinkään ole kappaleiden määrästä, vaan laadusta.

Sinkuista sen verran, että tietysti konkreettinen levy kädessä on aina paras, mutta jos niitä ei saa, tyytyisin kyllä ladattavaankin kappaleeseen. Toivottavasti sinkuttomuus oli ainoastaan Epicin valinta eikä Torin.

Jep jep, en minäkään ole @forumzia niin paljon lukenut, että pystyisin puhumaan kuin pienestä yleistyksestä ja ensivaikutelmasta.

Pitkissä levyissä on sekin kivaa, kun pistää soimaan pitkästä aikaa, tulee niitä elämyksiä "Ai niin, tässä on TÄMÄKIN biisi..." ADP:ssa esimerkiksi on paljon loistavia biisejä, joiden olemassaolo tuppaa unohtumaan, esim. Father's Son, Body and Soul, Roosterspur Bridge, Secret Spell, Digital Ghost.. Mutta joo, mielipideasioitahan nämä on. Aika näyttää, kuinka klassikoita näistä tulee. Jos Torin tyyliin on luottamista, seuraavalla kiertueella ainakin osa näistä biiseistä kokee uusia ulottuvuuksia, kun tullaan kuulemaan uusia versioita.

Niin kuin nyt vaikka Crucify, joka on huippubiisi, mutta sellainen, johon pidemmän päälle helposti kyllästyy.. mutta sen live-versio, mikä nyt on elänyt omaa elämäänsä jo ainakin tämän vuosisadan puolella, on jotain ihan muuta, ja hyvä niin!

The album is totally different from anything else that she has ever done. Tori has gone electro. Lots of drumlines and weird sounds and synths. One song is totally disco ("DeleteDeleteDelete"), which is the song that my friend provided additional programming on. This is, to put it simply, an "electro-pop record, very fresh and very modern but focusing on deeply emotional songwriting and intricate synthesizer melodies." Anyway, my friend was at Martian Studios when this was getting mastered over the past few days and got to listen to a spin of the record in complete form. He said that he was really surprised by it and mentioned that the production values are incredible. The album is done but the artwork and the visualettes are still in the final stages.

Kirjoittaja kertoo myös lyhyesti kaikista levyn kappaleista.

Kappaleiden nimet näyttävät feikeiltä ja informaatio siitä, että levyä masteroidaan parhaillaan on voitu hyvin saada muista lähteistä, siitä on ollut muilla foorumeilla puhetta. En ole ihan varma miten musiikki sopisi filmeihin ja levyn nimeen joka on musikaalista.

Argh.. en kestä näitä juupas eipäs arvailuja.. Sais Tori nyt jo antaa meille ihan kunnollista tietoa siitä mitä on tulossa. MUTTA jos toi on nyt sitten aito juttu.. niin.. hmm.. en tiedä tykkäisinkö tuosta suunnasta. Ja miten levyn nimi liittyisi mitenkään tuon tyyppiseen musaan.. en oikein usko että kyseessä on aito biisilista.

Olen miettinyt tuota asiaa ja vaikka se luultavasti ON feikki niin kuitenkin se jotenkin voisi olla tottakin niin monella tapaa.. Käydääs vähän läpi niitä.. Eli.. Tori sanoi että uusi levy on tehty Comic Book Tattoo kirjan tarinoiden innoittamana. Noi väitetyt biisien nimet ovat erittäin sarjakuvamaisia mun mielestä ja jos suuntana on elektro-syntikka-industrial niin sekin sopii oikein hyvin sarjakuvamaailmaan ja siihen maailmaan mikä tossa kirjassa vallitsee. Ja.. nyt kun Tori vihdoin saa tehdä ihan mitä itse haluaa niin en yhtään ihmettelis et jos se tosiaan tekis tuollaisen tempauksen. Heheheh.. Sitten tuossa blogissa luki että biiseissä on paljon rumpuja.. erilaisia rumpuja.. Ja muistelen että Tori teki Matt:n kanssa paljon töitä yhdessä välissä..

Mut.. blogin kirjoittajan mukaan pressitilaisuus on Maaliskuun alussa joten katsotaan nyt millaisia virallisia uutisia saadaan silloin Muistakaa että myös Posse levystä tuli ensin tuollainen ns fanin review jota kaikki haukkuivat feikiksi.. mutta kävi ilmi että totta se olikin ollut koko aika.

Mielenkiintoista.. ja mitä enemmän sitä miettii niin ajatus electro Torista ei kuulostakaan niin pahalta..

Updated Tracklisting
Updated the tracklisting with the track lengths. Apparently the artwork for this album is going to be highly dependent on various forms of art...lots of animation and creative stuff going on. Seems like very exciting season in the world of Tori Amos. Expect even more details from the Tori camp within the next two weeks.

P.S. I can understand people's doubts about this information (according to my comments) but like I said, I am not in a position to reveal my sources for obvious reasons. Once the press release becomes available, all will be revealed. In the meantime, I'll keep posting exclusive information as it becomes available.

The new Tori Amos album, Abnormally Attracted to Sin, will be released on March 24th. The first single, "We Grew Up Together," will be sent to radio stations and also receive a digital release on March 10th.

A piece of concept art from the new Tori Amos album showed up in my inbox tonight. I have no idea if this is some concept art from one of the visualettes or for digital album art.

ARGH.... Jos levy tulee ulos jo noin pian niin miksei ole saatu virallista infoa???? Miten joku viitsii nähdä noin paljon vaivaa ja keksiä tuollaista paskaa.. ja että Torin uusin levy tulisi ulos vain digitaalisessa muodossa??? WTF

Tämä alkaa kuulostaa yhä epäuskottavammalta. Ensinnäkin levyn julkaisuajankohta - noin aikaisin? Aiemmin on puhuttu kevät/kesästä, viimeksi käsittääkseni loppukeväästä, ja jos Tori on vielä studiossa masteroimassa, niin tuskin levy ihan noin nopeasti valmistuu - vaikka tietysti jos kyseessä on pelkkä digitaalinen julkaisu, se kävisi aika nopeasti. Mutta: lehdistötiedotteessa sanottiin: "ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SIN, scheduled to hit stores and the digital domain this spring", jonka tulkitsen niin, että myös ihan fyysinen julkaisu on tulossa. Ja sitten taas toisaalta, jotkut artistit julkaisevat levyn ensin ladattavana versiona ja myöhemmin fyysisesti...

Sitten vielä kuvat ovat sellaista suttua että ne voivat olla peräisin mistä tahansa. Sanoissa on "on the other side of the mountain", joka siis on kuuluisa Bonnin soundcheck-kappale, jota monet ovat odottaneet. Kyynikkona sanon, että kuulostaa liian hyvältä ollakseen totta. Lisäksi se, että infoa tulee jatkuvalla syötöllä viittaa vahvasti feikkiin. Joillakin on vain liikaa aikaa käsissään.

(Toisaalta, kuka olisi uskonut että Tori kirjoittaa kappaleen nimeltä Fat Slut. Argh, tästä saa vain päänsäryn... )

Ja sitten Jacob on sopivasti lisännyt sanat What Jacob Said biisiin ja eilen just fanit kirjoitteli Afterglow:lla siitä kuinka haluaisivat Torin He has a well, you have an ocean impron mukaan levylle joten kuinka sopivasti on Jacobin biisin sanoissa tämmöinen kohta:

Ei vaan jaksa käsittää miten joku jaksaa nähdä vaivaa keksiäkseen tuon luokan feikkitarinaa. No, kaipa se on sitten jollekin mukava tapa toteuttaa attention whore -taipumuksiaan ja sohia muurahaispesää (vai pitäisikö Torin tapauksessa puhua mehiläispesästä ). Mutta toisaalta ADP:n jälkeen en kyllä enää yllättyisi juuri mistään, vrt. Lilithinkin mainitsema Fat Slut, "I am a M-I-L-F don't you forget", possen blogit jne. Toivottavasti kohtapuoliin tulisi taas jotain lisäinfoa virallisiltakin tahoilta...

Jossain kohdin nuo sanat muistuttavat joitain Torin kappaleita... en vain saa päähäni mitä. Esimerkiksi tämä kohta:
